A glimpse into my classroom

Last week I taught my freshmen how to ask yes and no questions. In other words, can I answer the question by answering yes or no. In order to practice the questions we had just covered, speaking, and to get my students involved in class I had them do a Who am I activity.

Each Student had to write a person, place, or thing on a slip of paper. I then collected them and redistributed them to my students by taping them on their back. Students had to then ask yes or no questions to try to figure out who or what they were.

Questions overheard for your enjoyment:
"Is it a thing?"
-Yes
"Is it famous?"
-Yes
"Is it a little yellow person?"
(side note they meant minion this is the way the Chinese name translates, maybe we took this opportunity to learn the word minion from desp!cable me; who says vocabulary has to be boring)
 -No
... a few more questions later she was the Nanchang Star (the ferriswheel in my city)

 "Am I a person?"
-yes
"Am I beautiful?"
- yes
"Am I Chinese?
-No
(student moves to next person)
Am I waiguoren (a foreigner, yes they used Chinese but hey can't win them all)?
-Yes
Do you think I'm beautiful?
-yes, a lot
Do I speak Chinese?
-a little
Do I have gold hair?
-yes
Do you like me?
Yes
Am I Taylor Swift?
No
Am I a teacher?
Yes!
Do I speak English?
yes
Am I April?
Yes!
Student comes to me to tell me she has figured out who she is and casually mentions. Did you here he thinks you are a lot beautiful and he likes you. Me thinking how am I suppose to respond to that? As I try not to burst out laughing.

Other possible options for people, places, and things you could be in my classroom included a basketball, Obama, the Great Wall, a pigeon, a cup, a book, a flag pole, Taylor Swift, another student, a cellphone cover, a desk, Yao Ming, KTV, a pagoda, and several others.
